Subplot-deputization

Subplot: Deputization
A victim is given a gun and a purpose.

All Guardians you control gain the following power:
Deputization Whenever a friendly Guardian rescues a victim, instead of placing the victim on the monster's card, you may choose instead to remove the victim from the map and place a Minion token from outside the game in an empty space adjacent to the slayer.  The minion is friendly to you.
(You still gain victory points for rescuing the victim, though the monster does not become blooded.)

If you have any friendly minions in play at the beginning of your turn, you get an extra action that turn which can be assigned only to a friendly minion
Errata: The final sentence should read: “If you have any friendly minions in play at the beginning of your turn, you get an extra action that turn which can be assigned only to a friendly minion.”

8.5/10 - The cycle of minion creating Plot Twists are pretty interesting, and mix a lot of benefits and consequences together. to form a pretty intriguing, cohesive whole.
The biggest benefit of minions is being able to create extra monsters that gain abilities from their 'minion masters' (Valerie Elle, Pod Mother, Doctor Von Raechter, etc.). Minions can then serve as meat shields or valuable monsters in your army, some able to pack quite a potent punch. The problem is, only the LE minions given away as tournament prizes are playable most of the time, and somewhat difficult to get.
Another big benefit of minions is that even though they can't become blooded, they can be moved during your suspense phase as a victim (without adding an action token) then attack during the hunting phase. But in turn, since a slain or rescued victim does not get placed on a monsters card when becoming a minion, this will hinder armies that want to bloody their monsters and frenzy as soon as possible. In particular, monsters with the Spree, Righteous, or Mutate abilities (really, anything that works better with or requires three victims on the monster's card) will be particularly hurt.
And, as you might suspect (as far as The Lab expansion goes), some minions are better than others. For example, Guardian minions can gain the Deadshot ability, have superior range and stats to the other minions, and belong to a monster archetype that doesn't particularly need to frenzy or get victims on their card.
Altogether, minions are a pretty cool concept. They're just what the game needs - a balance of benefits and consequences working together to make the game more fun and strategy oriented.
